1 Wraiths
Wraiths are individuals who have died and were later resurrected through Requiem. Upon resurrection, they regain their human body and consciousness, but their blood is permanently replaced by Requiem, a living black substance that serves as both their blood and the source of their supernatural abilities.
Every Wraith develops a unique ability based on their individuality, emotions, or circumstances surrounding their resurrection. No two abilities are exactly alike.
Unlike humans, Wraiths cannot naturally regenerate lost Requiem. Their heart is incapable of producing new Requiem blood, meaning every injury permanently reduces their available blood supply. To recover, a Wraith must receive Requiem blood from another compatible Wraith. Severe blood loss is one of the leading causes of death among Wraiths.
Although resurrection is the most common way a Wraith is created, it is not the only method. A living human can become a Wraith if Requiem enters their bloodstream. Because Requiem is highly toxic to ordinary humans, this process is extremely dangerous and often fatal. Those who survive are reborn as Wraiths, though survival appears to be exceptionally rare.
Requiem does not discriminate between species. Any living creature can become a Wraith, including animals. However, animal Wraiths rarely survive for long due to their limited intelligence and inability to understand or control Requiem. Many eventually lose control of their frequency and Drift, transforming into far more dangerous beings.
Wraiths are not immortal. While they possess enhanced regeneration, every wound consumes irreplaceable Requiem blood. In prolonged battles, a Wraith does not become weaker because of injury alone—they slowly bleed away the very substance that keeps them alive.
